Artists should endeavor to implement their own web site.
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008Greetings,
I have done some searches on the Internet for certain artists contact information. The only contact I have for these individuals tends to be a MySpace Account. The problem with using a Networking site as your exclusive contact medium. You cannot be contacted by anyone who is not on the Networking site.
I strongly encourage you to build a website. Preferably on your own domain. if you use a free site –I have used these, they install a ton of junk on your computer– there is still a price to pay. I recommend purchasing your own domain, and create an email for contact. This way you can be found on the Internet. Especially if you sign up with various search engines. The other way to be found is by keywords in the web page itself. setting it for web crawlers is relatively easy.
I get rather frustrated that some entertainers only way of being contacted is via a networking site. These may be ok for the Artist. But trust me it severely limits your program. Think of the potential gig, that dissolved from your grasp. why? because they couldn’t't locate a public domain on the net.
setting up your own web site embellishes your creative side too. *wink*
